The fairy tales of Grimm are indispensable in our society. Between the famous opening and closing lines 'once upon a time...' and 'they lived happily ever after' countless adventures unfold featuring hordes of dwarfs, evil wolves, fairy godmothers, and wicked stepmothers. But almost always, the good (though sometimes just barely) manages to overcome the evil, allowing the child to sleep peacefully.

Since 2006, there is the new Grimm: an edition that looks like a picture book; a book with which children can not only dream away with the enchanting stories but also see an illustration on every page, where no two princesses are the same and each fairy tale has its own atmosphere.

For this special edition, Charlotte Dematons created hundreds of full-color illustrations - sometimes page-sized, forming a whole with the text, sometimes small miniatures loosely scattered through the fairy tales. Ria van Hengel made an entirely new translation of the complete original German edition, in which she succeeded in expressing the fairy tales in a clear, accessible way without losing the rich imagery of the original text.
